School Nurses

This poem was written for and given to my school nurse on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, for National School Nurses Day.

School Nurses are the Nurses who are the BEST.

Sickly Littles and Bigs can be a HOT MESS.

Your patience and concern are put to the TEST,

And dealing with some parents is a whole different STRESS.

You are our School Nurse,

And we must CONFESS -

It's because of your great care

That our school is so BLESSED.

Thank you to all the School Nurses who take care of our kiddos.

  1. Donnetta, what a sweet, sweet tribute to your school nurse! Yes, indeed, we all can be hot messes when sick at school. Bless you for writing it and remembering her. A poem is an amazing gift! Thank you!

  2. Yes! My sister is a school nurse in CA and I am in awe of what she and all the school nurses have done during this “hot mess” of a year. 🙂

  3. It is wonderful to offer them your gratitude. There are no school nurses in the elementary schools here & I imagine teachers could use them during these recent months.
