You Shine – To All My Fellow Teachers

I want to give you praise
Tell you all the ways
You Shine
Say it in a phrase
The gist it conveys
You Shine
Declare it for days
Without any delays
You Shine

  2. As a former teacher, with grandchildren navigating this year, I so admire every one of you teachers, wishing you a calm and relaxing summer! Your poem shines for every teacher! Welcome to Poetry Friday!

  3. Hi, Donnetta! Nice to “meet” you here at Poetry Friday. We do need to appreciate each other–at the moment it feels like only other teachers can really know what all there is to appreciate! (Hope you stop by my PreK poem this week.) You wrote a very musical little piece with a simple and important refrain!

  4. Welcome, Donnetta! Thrilled to pieces you are here. (Finally, LOL!) The Lai is a new form for me, and what a lovely one it is. You nailed it, and I’m feeling your praise. Your voice is SO strong in this. I can hear your words being recited in a slam in my head. You shine in all you do, friend.

  5. Donnetta, I just discovered your sweet “You Shine” poem. This is so beautiful, and I am definitely going to take the Lai form and give it a go! “Declare it for days” indeed. I love that. We need to keep telling teachers, “You Shine!” Thanks for the reminder!
